What is ‘Language’ in Speech Therapy?
‘Language’ refers to your child’s ability to understand what is said to them, and their communication to others. Thus, ‘language’ is both receptive (understanding) and expressive (communicating).
What is ‘Receptive Language’?
Receptive language is how your child understands what is said to him/her.
If you think of it like learning a new language, receptive language is the ability to understand what others are saying in the new language.
